Since it is cracked it does not take long to cook up. It has been freshly milled so it will be at the top of the nutrition and we have vacuumed packaged the barley so it will remain fresh for a long time
Cracked Grain (Barley) Breakfast
1 cup cracked barley
3 cups water
1 cup milk (okay we are biased – make it Hilhoff milk)
Combine the water and the cracked grain into a saucepan and bring to a boil, turn the heat down to a simmer and stir for at least 10 minutes. Add water to thin it out or leaver thicker whichever you prefer.
Doctor the barley up with goodies you may have in your cupboard that you like.
Maple Syrup, vanilla, salt, nuts, seeds, coconut, or honey, etc.
Serve in a breakfast bowl and add milk!
